Located just a stone’s throw from the South Fairfield train station, Nauti Dolphin is a beloved pizza and Italian restaurant that has quietly earned its reputation as a local gem. With an unpretentious, cozy setting featuring just a handful of seats at the counter, it’s the kind of place where the welcoming warmth from the staff feels as satisfying as the food itself. Whether you’re ducking in for a slice to-go or settling in at the counter for a casual bite, Nauti Dolphin offers a genuine taste of Fairfield’s vibrant pizza scene.
The cuisine here is classic Italian comfort at its finest, with the spotlight clearly on pizza that’s both generously topped and expertly crafted. Fan favorites like their Pepperoni Pizza and the traditional Pizza Margherita showcase the kitchen’s skill with balanced flavors and fresh ingredients. Each bite reveals a perfect marriage of a thin, crispy crust with melty, bubbling cheese and vibrant sauces that tease the palate just enough to keep you coming back for more.
For those craving something a little heartier, Nauti Dolphin's calzones are a revelation. The menu boasts inventive options such as The Black Pearl, loaded with shrimp, scallops, and clams for seafood lovers — though a recent customer note reminded us that portion sizes can vary, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for consistency here. Other standout calzones like the Barbeque Chicken and the spicy Hot N' Spicy Sow offer bold, contrasting flavors that pack a punch and elevate this humble handheld to a full-flavored meal.
Beyond pizza and calzones, the grinders and pasta options round out the menu with nostalgic, hearty choices. The Meatball Grinder and the creamy Three Cheese Ravioli speak to those who appreciate traditional Italian-American comfort food, made with care and served in generous portions.
What truly sets Nauti Dolphin apart, according to visitors, is the genuine friendliness and welcoming atmosphere that permeates the place. Michael Correia, an out-of-town visitor, highlights the staff’s kindness, saying that even if the pizza were merely “okay,” the warmth of the service would have made his day. Cristiano libre encourages diners to take a seat at the counter to soak in the vibe and meet the "finest and most friendly group of owners," making the experience feel personal and authentic.
Longtime customers like Rufio attest to the quality and consistency of Nauti Dolphin’s pizza over decades, calling it one of the best pizza spots in Fairfield County and a “diamond in the rough” despite its modest, no-frills atmosphere. Patrick K also echoes this sentiment, placing Nauti Dolphin in close competition with top-tier establishments in the region, praising it as “underrated” and a must-try for pizza devotees.
If you’re after a classic Italian pizza experience steeped in community charm and brimming with flavor, Nauti Dolphin is a destination that deserves a place on your culinary map. It’s a spot where the food’s honesty and the staff’s warmth come together to create more than just a meal — but a slice of Fairfield tradition you’ll want to revisit time and again.
I usually love Nauti Dolphin, but the other day I ordered the Black Pearl. Normally, it's loaded with shrimp, scallops and clams. There was less than half the usual amount, and I didn't see any scallops. It's an expensive pie, for good reason, if you get what's advertised. The flavor was fine. Half the seafood should equal half the price.
Out of towner visitor. Just came here to say that the staff were SO nice and welcoming, the pizza could have been just “okay” and I still would have been fine with it. Luckily, the pizza was also high quality. Thanks for being such a kind establishment. Put me in a nice mood for a beautiful Saturday afternoon!
Nestled into the south side Fairfield train station, Nauti is an unassuming classic pizza joint with big time flavor and one helluva great calzone. There’s only three seats at the counter, so you’re probably gonna get it to go. But, if you get the chance, take a seat at the counter, and dine in. Because if you do, you will get a chance to meet one of the finest and most friendly groups of owners and employees. If I were to attend a Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Ernie Banks, I’d hold up a sign that says, “America Loves the Nauti Dolphin!”
Since age 14, I have been getting pizza from nauti Dolphin. It's one of the best pizzas you will get in fairfield County. I highly recommend getting a single slice if you're jumping on the train or just want a slice for lunch. Price has gone up a little, but it's still worth it. It's a dive on the atmospheric look but a Dimond in the rough.
I didn’t quite know what to expect walking into Nauti Dolphin, but after my visit I can confidently say it holds its own–if not surpasses–some of the top pizza spots out there. People were saying it was underrated and they’re right. This is right up there with my fav the one and only Modern Apizza.
Loved the pizza! You can just tell it's made with quality ingredients. The sauce was delicious! So much fun sitting at the bar top and chatting with Scott and the guys. Thx!
The pizza is great here. But they don't have space for eating there. It's better to order to go. It's on the site of Fairfield railroad station in New Haven direction.
The pizza was made fresh-to-order and it was delicious. The store is really small - they only have 3 seats right next to each other - so I highly recommend getting take-out.
